Heron & Beaver Hike

Join Lucy for a ~1-mile hike at the Mt Pisgah Preserve in Durham to view the activity at the new great blue heron nesting site. Registration for this free program is through Durham Recreation. Residents of other towns are welcome to attend and they need to create a Durham Recreation account.

Join Lucy Meigs (AKA Miss Lucy) for a ~1-mile hike at the Chalker Brooks and Mt Pisgah Preserve in Durham to view the activity at the new great blue heron nesting site. There are 8 nests in the marsh this year and nestlings are big (> 2 ft tall) and sometimes noisy. We also will see lots of signs of the beavers that created the marsh. A couple pairs of binoculars will be available so you can get a good view of the herons and their nests.
This is a program for all ages. All children must be accompanied an adult.
If you have binoculars, please bring them along.
