About the Event
Join us for a 1.5-mile walk at the Mica Ledges Preserve in Durham lead by naturalist and EO Director, Lucy Meigs. In addition to enjoying the walk, you will have a chance to learn the basics of tree identification, the ethnobotany of common trees and share the appreciation of these amazing beings that grow much bigger and older than us. We will walk at a leisurely pace, mostly on an old road, to the beautiful Whitney Pond.
This hike is a joint program of Everyone Outside, the Coginchaug Outdoor Enrichment Center, and the Middlesex Land Trust.
The walk will start at 6:30pm. Please come early ~6:15pm if you would like to look at the tree identification resources and some samples for basic identification. Please wear sturdy walking shoes and bring a pack with water and possibly a snack. Insect repelant may be a good idea. The Mica Ledges Preserve is owned and managed by the Madison Land Conservation Trust & the Middlesex Land Trust. For a map of the area we will hike, click here.
Please consider making a donation to Everyone Outside. Suggested donation $5 to $20 per hike. We depend on donations from people like you to make our programs possible. Your donation is greatly appreciated!
Registration required. Directions will be sent to those that register and registrants will be notified via email if the hike is postponed or cancelled due to weather.
