About the Event
Join Women of the Woods (WoW) for 4 to 4.5-mile walk on the paved Farmington Canal Heritage Trail in Cheshire & Hamden. This nice section of trail is mostly in the woods and there is a flowing stream next to a portion of it. We will also visit Brooksvale Park. We will meet at a one parking lot (hike end point) and carpool to a different one where we will start so we can cover ~4 miles of the Farmington Canal Trail. Most WoW hikes/walks are on dirt trails. The hike leader, Lucy, is currently recovinging from a knee injury, so this hike is on a very nice section of this paved trail. There will be the option to share a picnic lunch at the end of the hike near Lock 12. Please wear good walking shoes and bring a pack with plenty of water, and a snack.
Please consider making a donation to Everyone Outside. Suggested donation $5 to $20 per hike. We depend on donations from people like you to make our programs possible. Click here for more information on ways you can donate to Everyone Outside. Your donations keep our programs affordable and provide funding for scholarships for our other nature connection programs including our Girls Outside after-school program. Your donation is greatly appreciated!
Women of the Woods (WoW) is a program of Everyone Outside and is open to all those who identify as female or gender nonbinary. In addition to walking, we will take the time to admire the beauty around us, learn a bit about the flora or fauna, do some exercises to connect with the natural world (mostly sitting quietly) and enjoy each other's company.
Registration required. Directions will be sent to those that register and registrants will be notified via email if the hike will start at an earlier time, is postponed or cancelled due to weather.
