About the Event

Join Women of the Woods for an ~2-mile for a walk focusing on trees. Join Lucy Meigs to learn the basics of tree identification, the ethnobotany of common trees and share the appreciation of these amazing beings that grow much bigger and older than us. There will be at least one steep up and down on a narrow trail, but most of the hike will be on wide fairly flat trails. We will take some time for nature connection activities like a sit spot (sitting quietly) and/or game to explore trees. To keep the group fairly small, we are offering an additional Tree Walk on Th, May 25.

Please wear walking shoes and bring a pack with water and a snack.

Please consider making a donation to Everyone Outside. Suggested donation $5 to $20 per hike. We depend on donations from people like you to make our programs possible. Click here for more information on ways you can donate to Everyone Outside. Your donations keep our programs affordable and provide funding for scholarships for our other nature connection programs including our Girls Outside after-school program. Your donation is greatly appreciated! Women of the Woods is supported, in part, by a grant from REI.

Women of the Woods (WoW) is a program of Everyone Outside and is open to all those who identify as female or gender nonbinary. In addition to walking, we will take the time to admire the beauty around us, learn a bit about the flora or fauna, do some exercises to connect with the natural world (mostly sitting quietly) and enjoy each other's company.

Registration required. Directions will be sent to those that register and registrants will be notified via email if the hike is postponed or cancelled due to weather.
