About the Event

We are excited to offer the first in a series of programs that are co-sponsored by the Outdoor Enrichment Center and Everyone Outside. Outdoor Envrichment Center Steering Committee member, botanist, and native plant enthusiast, Aubree Keurajian will lead this hike.

Join the Outdoor Enrichment Center, a brand new working group of Sustainable Durham, for our inaugural event, an Earth Day Hike! We will gather in front of the new Community Center in Durham (formerly Korn School) and take a more secluded path up to The Field Forest for a short hike. Keep an eye out for trout lilies, bluebirds, and even salamanders! The total hike is approximately 1 mile, half of which is paved. The unpaved, trail portion of the hike has some areas of moderately steep terrain. The paved portion has one moderate incline at the beginning and end but is otherwise flat. Folks who do not wish to hike the trail portion are welcome to join one of our Steering Committee members birdwatching, a limited number of binoculars will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring their own. All ages and abilities are welcome, but please leave pets at home. Please bring water and wear well fitting, closed toe shoes - sneakers are fine but hiking shoes are better. This hike should last approximately 1.5 hours.

Registration appreciated.  If the hike is cancelled due to rain, registrants will recieve an email to let them know.
