About the Event
Join Women of the Woods (WoW) for ~3-mile hike at the Highlawn Forest in Middletown. The flat and gentle trails at this preserve make this an ideal hike for less experienced or less able hikes. We will visit 2 vernal pools and learn about and see some of the creatures that live there. For a map of Highlawn Forest, click here and for more information about the Highlawn Forest, click here. This hike is co-sponsored by the CT Forest and Park Association.
Please wear hiking shoes, bring a pack with water, a snack and dress for the weather. You may want to bring hiking poles if you like the extra support and stability they provide.
Please consider making a donation to Everyone Outside. Suggested donation $5 to $20 per hike. We depend on donations from people like you to make our programs possible. Click here for more information on ways you can donate to Everyone Outside. Your donations keep our programs affordable and provide funding for scholarships for our other nature connection programs including our Girls Outside after-school program. Your donation is greatly appreciated! Women of the Woods is supported, in part, by a grant from REI.
Women of the Woods (WoW) is a program of Everyone Outside and is open to all those who identify as female or gender nonbinary. In addition to walking, we will take the time to admire the beauty around us, learn a bit about the flora or fauna, do some exercises to connect with the natural world (mostly sitting quietly) and enjoy each other's company.
Registration required. Directions will be sent to those that register and registrants will be notified via email if the hike is postponed or cancelled due to weather.
