About the Event
Join Women of the Woods for a Zoom* program to about the nature connection practices of sit spot and wandering. You can connect with others and learn how you can tune in to the nature where you live and get the benefits of relaxed and timeless time in nature. The essence of sit spot is sitting quietly outside and focusing on being present in the natural world. A sit spot can be somewhere you sit one time on a hike or you can choose a place near where you live (even inside looking out a window) and visit it regularly. Wandering is the simple practice of focusing on being present and using your senses while moving slowly through an area that has natural features (e.g. trees, bushes). The practices of sit spot and wandering are great ways to reduce your stress and to learn about your nature neighbors. They are easy and fun ways to deepen your relationship with the more than human world. This program is offered every Tuesday. Click here to view the EO Calendar for more dates.
This program is part of Everyone Outside's Women of the Woods (WoW) programing and is meant for women or female identifying people only, please.
At this WoW program, we will "circle up" via Zoom to chat about what we have been noticing in nature and Lucy will briefly explain more about the practices of sit spot and wandering. After a short sensory meditation, Lucy will send you off to have a sit spot and/or wander near where you live (or even inside looking out a window). We will then gather via zoom to chat about our experiences.
Please register and you will be sent the Zoom link and additional details.
Before the program starts, please take a moment and find a place outside (or by a window) near where you are that you can comfortably sit and/or wander for ~20 min. Depending on the weather, you may want to have plenty of layers and/or a hot cup of tea ready and available to take outside with you. We will meet first, so no need to be outside or warmly dressed for the start of the program.
If you have been to program or two, please consider making a donation to Everyone Outside. Suggested donation $5 to $10 per hour of programming. We depend on donations from people like you to make our programs possible. Click here for more information on ways you can donate to Everyone Outside. Our WoW hikes, our children’s programs and other Everyone Outside activities either have a sliding scale fee structure or are free (with a request for a donation from those who are able). We depend on our supporters to make our programs acessable, regardless of financial need. Your donation is greatly appreciated!
Women of the Woods is supported, in part, by a grant from the Community Foundation of Middlesex County's Sari Rosenbaum Fund for Women and Girls.
*If you have not used Zoom before, Lucy can send you detailed directions and be available if you have questions.
